As a small business owner you never stop dreaming and one of my main dreams was that I would be able to showcase our amazingly curated collection of brands online to both our current customers as well as an entirely new audience from all over the world. The previous website had served its purpose, but when I took over Cocaranti in 2018, I could see that in an ever changing technological world that our website would soon need a serious update. As much as our local customers preferred coming into the boutique so that they could physically see and touch the products I knew that this was not always possible for some customers. During lockdown many people have realised what an invaluable asset local small retailers are to small towns offering a more pleasurable and unique experience not often found in larger chains. So a new website would ensure that the brand and experience that everyone loved in the boutique was represented online.
At the beginning of the year I started to compile a set of ‘must haves’ for the new website. No longer a faceless presence with very little link to the ‘bricks and mortar’ boutique, they would now be closely linked, with images and information about the boutique taking a prominent position on the website so that people could get to know Cocaranti more. With a sleek, appealing and easy to use layout the new website offers a great online shopping experience. Identifiable categories and brands are visible as soon as you open the new website, with any special promotions taking a prominent position on the home page. Each brand in the Cocaranti collection has its own landing page which tells you a little bit about each brand, as we feel it is important to know the history of the brands and what makes them so special to us.
The new Cocaranti website has some exciting new features which we know our customers will love. Sustainability is an increasingly important aspect of our purchasing decision making, so with this in mind all sustainable products will feature a ‘Sustainable Product’ banner making them easily identifiable. Customers are now also able to create wish lists that can be sent out to friends or relatives to ensure that you get the gifts you really desire or printed off as a reminder of the things you would like to purchase! Unlike the old website the new chat facility is something that I am really excited about as it will enable all of our customers to ask us about any of the products featured before finalising their purchases or to ask about anything else. The integrated mailing list feature will enable customers to sign up if they want to keep in touch with events happening both within the boutique and on the website.
