Virtual Lockdown Fashion Show

Over the years, Fashion Shows have become an important occasion for both the boutique and our customers, with us regularly holding at least one fashion show each season. They are usually held in the boutique, with models, who have over the years become friends, showcasing the amazing stock that we have in at that time as well as providing customers with insight into the various ways to style individual pieces. The fashion shows allow customers to see a large selection of brands and items on models, which also provides us with the perfect opportunity to style the collections in different ways that will hopefully inspire our customers to experiment with new shapes, colours and fits as well as providing them with ways in which they are able to incorporate them into their current wardrobe.

During the unprecedented initial lockdown in March 2020, like many other independent businesses we began to think about alternative ways that we could continue to trade and provide our services during a time when people could no longer come into the boutique to shop. Virtual fashion shows were definitely something that we wanted to look into but due to other priorities it wasn’t until lockdown2.0 that we decided to hold our first virtual fashion show.

Even though it wasn’t going to have the same atmosphere as our usual shows, we were still really excited about hosting it as it would enable our customers to look at our new stock as well as providing a bit of light hearted entertainment for them during the lockdown. The event was methodically organised to ensure that all of the social distancing measures were adhered to which also allowed the models more autonomy of styling their own outfits. Despite the reduced model numbers, no DJ, no prosecco van, no flowing drinks, photographer or customers, the fashion show was broadcast live on Instagram and the evening was a resounding success, one that we are considerably proud of given the circumstances that is was created in.

Now that we are in lockdown3.0 I’d obviously love to hold another virtual fashion show but unfortunately this would not be practical given the current circumstances, however as always, we are looking at alternative ways that we can once again deliver our normal boutique experiences in more virtual ways for you all to enjoy. Here’s hoping that we can resume some sort of normality in the not too distant future as we cannot wait to hold more amazing fashion shows in the boutique where we can invite all of our customers to join us.
